Reading this brought to mind my recent feeling that my writing has become quite plain, maybe precisely due to my experience in editing others' work. I don't seem to have much of a taste for the literary anymore (I'm not mourning that; I'm just observing).

Maybe I'll turn it around and look at my plainspoken straightforwardness as an advantage.
